TeachersBox is the brainchild of Mikael Davis, a lifelong instructional leader with a passion for using education to transform students' lives. Currently serving as the Director of Student Support Services and the Ronald McNair Scholars programs at Hampton University, Mr. Davis has built a career optimizing student achievement as a classroom teacher, athletic coach, and K-12 and university administrator. An experienced grant writer who has contributed to successful proposals to increase financial literacy and to reduce sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking on campus, Mr. Davis drafted the $1.5 million continuation grant that Hampton University was awarded in July 2015 to fund the Student Support Services program through August 2021, as well as the $1.9 million continuation grant to fund the Educational Talent Search program which will provide academic support services, tutoring, course selection, and college tours for secondary students in Hampton City Schools through August 2021. In May 2017, Hampton University was

also awarded a $1.3 million grant written by Mr. Davis to reconstitute the Upward Bound program which is providing college access and intrusive academic interventions to help eligible low-income and potential first generation college students in Newport News Public Schools complete a rigorous program of secondary education and subsequently enter and earn post-secondary degrees through August 2022. And in September 2017, the Department of Education awarded a 1.2 million grant written by Mr. Davis to fund a Ronald McNair Scholars Program to increase post-baccalaureate degree completion rates among low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented minority students at Hampton University.
A past president of the Virginia Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel, Mikael earned a Master of Arts degree in Education and Human Development from the George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the College of William and Mary. He is currently pursuing an Ed.D in Education, Policy, Planning, and Leadership at the College of William and Mary. He resides in Newport News, VA with his wife and two amazing sons.
