On September 27, 2020, MIKAEL DAVIS CONSULTING hosted the inaugural Optimizing Student Achievement Awards to recognize three retired NNPS educators whose exemplary service improved the lived experiences of thousands of students on the Virginia Peninsula. We are partnering with the Kappa Pi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. to award two Wendell T. EPIFHANY LLC FIRST ANNUAL
VIRTUAL SUMMIT

On July 11, 2020, Mikael Davis Consulting participated in Epifhany LLC's first annual Virtual Summit, featuring a cadre of  exceptional K12 educators and university administrators with a wealth of instructional leadership experience, to discuss strategies to increase educational equity for students of color. The Summit equipped teachers to create lessons that engage ALL learners, provide tools to create socio-emotional learning opportunities throughout the curriculum, implement best practice to build authentic student relationships, and utilize evidence based rationales for administering restorative discipline practices. Participants left with everything that educators need to empower students of color with the same opportunities that majority culture students enjoy every day.

A portion of funds generated from summit registrations were donated to organizations that contribute to educational equity.

EXPANDING COLLEGE ACCESS,
MENTAL HEALTH & CAREER SERVICES

This past year, we secured MCAT and GRE Prep for Hampton University's Student Support Services and Ronald McNair Scholars, coordinated student travel to the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students, the Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science, and National Association of African American Honors Programs, facilitated a HIPPA Compliant online mental health counseling service, and collaborated on a Deeply Rooted mental health event. We helped Hampton University conduct a virtual senior banquet for its TRIO graduates and will launch a series of virtual Graduate and Professional School Tours for TRIO students who will need to plan for graduate admissions while social distancing.

Throughout the Summer and Fall 2020 terms, we will help Hampton administer the
Vita Navis SuperStrong Assessment, an evidence-based tool that helps students identify their occupational themes (Realistic, Innovative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, or Conventional) and preferred academic major(s), as well as familiarize students with the personality constructs of Growth Mindset, Self-Sufficiency, and Task Completion via the Student Success Profile.

TUTORING / MENTORING INITIATIVE

Mikael Davis Consulting and TeachersBox are proud to partner with the Shutdown 757 Falcons to create a series of evidence-based academic interventions, to include a weekly Tutoring and Mentoring program, college tours, and annual Parent Academy Seminars designed to optimize student achievement among the organization’s approximate two hundred fifty (250) student athletes.

According to Darreous Moody, Shutdown 757’s Executive Director of Operations, “We are really excited to offer this suite of academic services to our football and cheer program participants. Because we recognize that our student-athletes are the future, our aim is to give every child as many opportunities to be successful in life as we can. To that end, we instituted a tutoring program when we launched Shutdown three years ago. So we look forward to partnering with Mikael Davis Consulting and TeachersBox to ensure that each of our cheerleaders and football players reach their full potential, both on and off the field of play.”

For more information on Shutdown’s Tutoring and Mentoring Initiative, or to register your child for football or cheer, visit their new website at www.shutdown757.com.
