ISAIAH DAVIS, Electrical Engineering Student
During his tenure at Warwick High School, ISAIAH DAVIS excelled in a rigorous college prep curriculum and sought out specific pre-career and leadership opportunities to prepare to study engineering. As an elementary and middle school student, Isaiah led his football teams to five league championships as a starting quarterback, running back, and cornerback. At the high school level, the three-time AAU Junior Olympian shifted his focus to a program of studies steeped in STEM, to include Advanced Placement Biology, AP English, AP Environmental Science, AP Statistics, AP Calculus, AP Psychology, AP World History, AP Spanish V, and AP Human Geography.
Having participated in Hampton University’s Business of Engineering Camp and Young Diplomats Program, Isaiah enrolled in a TeacherBox Platinum SAT Prep Series and improved his Composite Score to a 1,320. As a result, Isaiah earned enough merit-based aid and tuition remission to cover all tuition and fees, room, board, and other expenses for all four years at Hampton University, where our course selection service equipped him to earn a stellar grade point average while earning 46 credits as Freshmen pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in preparation for a career in Aerospace Engineering. And resume and interview prep landed Isaiah an incredible internship with Accenture Federal Services.
Today, Isaiah serves as an Engineering Intern at Bernhard, a cutting-edge firm chosen selected to address $41 million of deferred maintenance needs, to include the construction of a new chilled water and heating water plant, fully integrated building automation system with digital controls, interior and exterior lighting upgrades, retro-commissioning of mechanical systems, and the implementation of the Bernhard Connect® platform for data analytics and automatic fault detection. The improvements dramatically improve the energy infrastructure on campus, reducing energy and water consumption by 46%, and reducing Hampton’s Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 37%. |
MDC equipped Isaiah with the tools to pursue an electrical engineering degree. Armed with substantial scholarship funding, I am confident that Isaiah will achieve his academic & career goals.
